Thursday tutorial

I spoke with Sarah in a tutorial the other day, and to be honest it was very productive and worthwhile for me. I mentioned to her that i had been struggling to come up with ideas and that nothing was flowing. She asked me what photographers i liked and after viewing some of their images, we began to talk of some possible directions for my work to go in.

Linus Ricard:

There is a clear monotone running through this image, and it looks amazing, but what I'm interested in here is the space that she fills, and the space that surrounds her. She has her own personal space within the location, however the space is not very personal at all.

The same is too be said with these two images of his also. It could be good to experiment with putting a model in a vast, open and empty space, and looking at that space which surrounds them, that possibly makes them vulnerable.

Gregory Crewdson:

These images by Crewdson again are examples of a vast open space with the subject tiny within the frame. Yes they are more about the stories behind the people and situations, however i can take the compositional and location elements as a starting point.
